1970 - This had evolved into Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems for scheduling production processes
1980 - The MRP expand to encompass more manufacturing processes, this make many people call it as MRP-II or Manufacturing Resource Planning
1990 - The system is been expand beyond inventory control and other operational processes to other back office functions like accounting and human resources, setting the stage for ERP. The term of ERP is create by Gartner
Today - Has expanded to encompass business intelligence (BI) while also handling "front-office" functions such as sales force automation (SFA), marketing automation and ecommerce
Although the 'e' in ERP means enterprise but many high-growth or mid-size companies are now rapidly adopt the ERP system.
